Jess the Celebrant

My Top Ten Wedding Venues in the Ribble Valley
I moved to the Ribble Valley because I loved the beautiful countryside, wide open spaces, friendly people, and great food. An added bonus of living here, and working as a wedding celebrant, is that there are so many fantastic wedding venues! It’s no surprise that it is known as ‘Wedding Valley’ and it even had a TV series dedicated to all the fabulous wedding suppliers in the area.
There are so many incredible venues here that it is hard to select the best, but here is my pick of ten great venues in the Ribble Valley that you may want to consider if you are planning your wedding day here.
The Out Barn

The Out Barn has a special place in my heart as its where I got married! This venue just has so much to offer, and(in my humble opinion) it also has some of the most incredible views over the countryside towards Pendle Hill that you will find anywhere, which makes for great photo opportunities on your big day.
Despite its name, The Out Barn is not your typical ‘barn-like’ venue. The main ceremony and reception space is a huge, modern, bright room, with high ceilings and windows all around, offering amazing views. The space here is huge, but it still has that cosy, intimate feel to it.
The Out Barn has evolved a lot over the last few years and it now also has a great outdoor ceremony space, undercover terrace for your drinks reception (if the weather isn’t so kind), a bridal prep room of dreams, and brand new lodges on site for your guests to stay in. This venue really does tick a lot of boxes if you want lots pf space, privacy, and flexibility to make your day your own.
Gisburne Park
When you first lay eyes on the wedding valley at Gisburne Park you feel like you have arrived in a magical land! Couples have the option of one, two, or three day wedding packages here, with use of the stunning bridal house on the estate, and glamping tents, or holiday lodges scattered around the estate for your guests.
The outdoor ceremony tent is nestled in the woods, next to a babbling stream, and the fairytale bridge in the middle of the valley makes for incredible pictures. Over the bridge from the bridal house and ceremony space s the gorgeous sail tent for your wedding breakfast and evening reception.
You really do have to visit Gisburne Park to appreciate how beautiful it is, but outdoorsy couples with a love of nature will be in heaven here!

Holmes Mill
Holmes Mill is one of my absolute favourites! It’s such great venue, right in the heart of Clitheroe, so it has a real buzz about it. The converted mill has a cool industrial vibe, with The Cotton Room upstairs offering a lovely bright space for your ceremony. Guests can even sit on vintage cinema seating while you say your ‘I dos’ and beer lovers will be happy here, with the giant beer hall downstairs.
For your drinks reception and wedding breakfast you also have the option of using the brasserie, which has a real art deco vibe, with sumptuous furnishings and gorgeous lighting. Holmes Mill has so many great photo opportunities, with festoon lighting outside, a red double decker bus parked up for you to hop on, and loads of cosy corners you can snuggle up in.
If you want a party vibe on your day, and a venue with lots of versatile indoor space, this is a great option, regardless of weather is like, or the time of year you want to get married. The wedding team there are also lovely!
Bowland Tipis
I love a wedding tipi, and Bowland Tipis is one of the best tipi venues around! Nestled in the woods, right next to Bowland Wild Boar Park, you’ll find the huge, main tipi, with a great bar area, chill out lounge, and bags of space for your wedding breakfast and dancefloor set up.
There is a beautiful, rustic outdoor ceremony space, surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds singing. There is also the option of using the indoor ceremony tipi if the weather doesn’t play ball on your big day.
Guests can stay in the luxury lodges located just a few minutes’ walk from the wedding tipi, so there’s no need to worry about taxis home!
I know Bowland Tipis have big plans for their ceremony area, so watch this space!

Hobbit Hill
Surrounded by 150 acres of beautiful Ribble Valley countryside, and located on the banks of the River Ribble, Hobbit Hill is as magical as its name suggests. The author JRR Tolkien, famed for writing The Hobbit, was so inspired by the countryside in this area that the fictional ‘Shire’ in his novel was based on the fields, rivers and woodlands in this beautiful spot.
Couples have use of the beautiful oak wedding barn, a stunning ceremony room, or for that rustic feel, the ceremony space in Round Wood is absolutely gorgeous. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos at this lovely venue, and it’s a blank canvas that you can personalise to make it truly reflect you as a couple.
The Red Pump Inn
You are guaranteed a warm welcome at The Red Pump Inn. The pub owners, Fran and Jonathan, know how to throw a good knees up, and couples that marry at their venue often become friends for life!
The pub is located on a country lane in Bashall Eaves, just a short drive from Clitheroe. It offers sweeping views over Pendle Hill and luscious Ribble Valley countryside. The wedding yurt (that was build by hand by an incredible talented Jonathan!) creates a gorgeous, rustic vibe, and there is loads of outside space for your guests to play lawn games, or simply relax with a drink and take in the views. Inside, the pub is cosy and welcoming and you’ll always get a great cooked breakfast here.
They only hold a limited number of weddings at The Red Pump Inn each year to keep things really personal, and to allow you to have exclusive use over a full weekend there with all your loved ones. If you want a friendly, warm, rustic venue with plenty of heart and incredible views, this is it!

Browsholme Hall
There are lots of impressive halls to choose from in the Ribble Valley, but I think Browsholme tops them all as it has all that grandness and history (it is the oldest surviving family home in Lancashire), whilst still having a real rustic charm about it. There is also so much scope here to have your wedding day, your way.
You can choose to have your ceremony in the beautiful Tithe Barn, which can be lit with twinkling lights, creating a fairytale atmosphere. Or, if the weather is kind, you can get married outside, surrounded by the stunning gardens.
Browsholme sits in 600 acres of countryside, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, so you are guaranteed peace and exclusivity here. There are also luxury lodges for your and your guests to stay in, so no need to worry about getting home after the party ends!
Hidden Oaks
Hidden Oaks is the new kid on the block when it comes to Ribble Valley wedding venues, but it’s already proving to be popular, and it’s easy to see why. Nested in woodland, just outside the charming Roman village of Ribchester, Hidden Oaks has so much to offer couples and their wedding guests.
As well as a gorgeous ceremony room, with a huge window overlooking the surrounding woodland, an outdoor ceremony space, and a gorgeous oak barn for your evening reception, you can also hire their onsite spa for your wedding weekend, so you and your guests can enjoy being pampered, before or after your big day!
There are also plenty of options of places for your guests to stay as Hidden Oaks is brought to you by the team who own Ribble Valley Holiday Homes, and they have plenty of fantastic holiday homes for you and your guests to relax in.
Pendle Heritage Centre and Park Hill Barn
If you are looking for somewhere unique, quirky and charming to get married, that won’t break the bank, Pendle Heritage Centre could be the place for you. The centre sits on the riverside in the picturesque town of Barrowford.
Ceremonies can be held in ‘ The Cruck Barn’ which is part of the Heritage Centre. You reach this barn by walking through the lovely walled gardens and making your way through the ‘fairy trail’ through the woods. Cruck barn has a real rustic, romantic feel to it, and it makes for stunning pictures of your ceremony.
Smaller ceremonies can be held in Park Hill Barn, which is just by the riverside, on the edge if Barrowford Park. This is also where your wedding reception will be held, with seating for 80 guests and plenty of space to dance the night away. Weddings at Pendle Heritage Centre have a real intimate, personal feel to them.

Wyresdale Park
OK, so this is technically a bit of a sneaky entry as Wyresdale Park is not really in the Ribble Valley…but it is in the Forest of Bowland, so its close enough. Plus, I couldn’t not have it on my list as I bloody love this place!
Wyresdale Park has it all in terms of what a great wedding venue should have I think. Its classy without being stuffy. There’s loads of space for guests to chill, without it feeling too big. It has wonderful modern touches, without losing any of its rustic charm. It has the option of outdoor or indoor ceremonies (both in equally beautiful spaces). It also has ‘The Atrium’ which is possibly my favourite confetti-throwing spot ever!
I honestly think Wyresdale Park has just nailed it in terms of being a stunningly gorgeous venue, that still makes guests feel like they can just let their hair down and have a fabulous party there. Visit for yourself and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with it too!
If you decide to get have your wedding day at any of these venues you can make your day even more special by having a celebrant-led wedding ceremony. Get in touch with me today to find out more!
